Lake Balaton to Audit Yorkshire!

Having been an Internal Audit Manager within the Public Sector for many years l/we decided on a slight change –  to pack our bags and set up camp on the banks of Lake Balaton in Hungary! Why Hungary you ask - good life, weather, culture but winters are very cold. So cold that we needed to get back to England for some winter warmth! Unfortunately whilst l was ‘sunning’ myself, boredom set in so to seek out excitement l returned to the auditing game!

I first worked for Audit Yorkshire in 2016 through an agency which l found slightly limiting. However l returned in 2017 but working under Audit Yorkshire’s newly formed Staff Bank which not only caters for internal auditors but also individuals with specialist technical skills who could use their knowledge to add value to the audit process. This allowed me the opportunity to negotiate my own terms and conditions, to a certain degree, without agency constraints and more importantly, the flexibility to work around my roaming lifestyle and making a cameo appearance on the well renowned TV show, Peaky Blinders!

Being part of the Staff Bank there is the opportunity to work at a variety of NHS Trusts and CCG’s. Audit Yorkshire is an excellent organisation to work for, they are well regarded and welcomed by managers at all levels within the client base who readily seek their advice and guidance on potential risks to the control environment.

Having never worked in the NHS before it has been an ‘eye opener’ but the team are very friendly and supportive in easing me in gently!!
